The ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Ending – How Did Kirk Survive?
Khan and his minions were able to hijack the U.S.S. Vengeance and unleash a barrage of ammunition on the Enterprise. This sent the ship back toward Earth, without power to its engines. Rather than accept his fate, Captain James Tiberius Kirk ventured into the highly radioactive warp core to realign the nodes and return power to the ship. But he couldn’t survive the exposure, so he had a heartbreaking goodbye with Spock before dying in his arms.
