Disney has set a 2023 Memorial Day Weekend release date for its live-action adaptation of its 1989 animation masterpiece The Little Mermaid
According to THR, The Little Mermaid will make its debut on May 26, 2023. The announcement is made as part of Disney's schedule for theatrical film releases.
Early production on The Little Mermaid began in 2016, but Bailey, best known for the Grown-ish series, was not cast as the title character Ariel until 2019.
Regarding accepting the classic Disney part, the actor remarked, "I feel like I'm dreaming and I'm just grateful and I don't pay attention to the negativity."
